UPDATE ON THE ELECTRONIC VISA APPROVAL LETTER (eVAL) EXTENSION REQUESTS

1. PURPOSE

1.1 The Malaysian Immigration Department has been processing eVAL extension requests since 13th July 2020 for International Students that were unable to travel to Malaysia upon receiving the initial eVAL approval because of global border closures due to the Covid19 pandemic worldwide.

1.2. The purpose of this bulletin is to inform all Education Institutions that the Malaysian Immigration Department will stop accepting the eVAL extension request from 31st December 2022.

2. IMPLEMENTATION

2.1 Education Institutions must ensure that all eVAL extension requests are submitted through the EMGS STARS system by 16th December 2022. This is to ensure that all eVAL extension applications are submitted and processed by the Immigration Department before 31st December 2022.

2.2. Effective 17th December 2022, Education Institutions will no longer have the option to apply eVAL extensions through the STARS system.

2.3. In the event that an eVAL has expired, Education institutions will be required to apply a new application and obtain a new eVAL. Kindly note that the respective Education Institution must ensure the previous eVAL that was approved by the Malaysian Immigration Department is cancelled before the new application is made.
