Social Visit Pass (Graduate Pass) for International Students and their Dependents

1. PURPOSE

  1. The purpose of this bulletin is to provide information regarding the recent announcement by the Prime Minister of Malaysia about the issuance of long-term Social Visit Pass (Graduate Pass) to international students from 23 countries.
  2. The pass allows international students to stay in Malaysia for a year after graduation. This enables them to further their studies, travel, and work part-time in job sectors permitted by the country’s laws.
  3. Effective 1st December 2023, applicants will be able to submit applications for the pass directly to Immigration Cyberjaya.

 

2. ELIGIBILITY

2.1. International Students

  1. The application can be made at Student Pass Unit, Immigration Cyberjaya.
  2. The pass will only be issued to students graduating from bachelor’s degree courses or higher levels.
  3. Applicant’s student pass is still valid during the application process.
  4. Applicant must have a passport validity of 18 months and above.
  5. Applicant must provide a completion letter from their institute as prove that they have or will be completing studies.
  6. Applicant must have an active health insurance policy that is covering the 12 months period.
  7. Applicant needs to provide a personal bond with a Malaysian citizen as the sponsor. The sponsor needs to have a monthly salary of at least RM1,500.
  8. Applicant from the following nationalities will be eligible to apply:
  1. Australia
  2. New Zealand
  3. Brunei
  4. Singapore
  5. South Korea
  6. Japan
  7. Germany
  8. United Kingdom
  9. France
  10. Canada
  11. Switzerland
  12. Netherlands
  13. Saudi Arabia
  14. Kuwait
  15. United Arab Emirates
  16. Qatar
  17. Sweden
  18. Norway
  19. Denmark
  20. Finland
  21. United States
  22. Oman
  23. Bahrain

2.2. Dependents of International Students

  1. The Social Visit Pass (Dependent Graduate Pass) is applicable only to applicants with a valid Dependent Pass issued under the principal Student Pass.
  2. The applicant must have a passport with a validity of at least 18 months.
  3. Applicant must have an active health insurance policy that is covering the 12 months period.
  4. Applicant needs to provide a personal bond with a Malaysian citizen as the sponsor. The sponsor needs to have a monthly salary of at least RM1,500.

 

3. SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS

Below is the list of supporting documents required for the submission of Social Visit Pass (Graduate Pass) and Social Visit Pass (Dependent Graduate Pass) to immigration department.

3.1. International Students

  1. IM 12 (Visit Pass Application Form)
  2. IM 38 (Visa Form)
  3. Passport Bio Data Page
  4. Current Valid Student Pass
  5. The applicant’s passport must be valid for at least 18 months from the date of application
  6. Graduation or release letter from their institute
  7. Insurance Cover Note
  8. Personal Bond
  9. Applicant Photo
  10. Sponsor declaration letter of a Malaysian citizen with an income of not less than RM1500 per month

3.2. Dependents of International Students

  1. IM 12 (Visit Pass Application Form)
  2. IM 38 (Visa Form)
  3. Passport Bio Data Page
  4. Current valid Dependent Pass
  5. The applicant’s passport must be valid for at least 18 months from the date of application
  6. Insurance Cover Note
  7. Personal Bond
  8. Applicant Photo
  9. Sponsor declaration letter of a Malaysian citizen with an income of not less than RM1500 per month

Sarah Azreen Abdul Samat

Sarah has over 22 years of experience in corporate finance transactions involving equity issuance, mergers and acquisitions, fundraising, corporate restructuring, and corporate valuation, amongst others. She began her career in investment banking with Malaysian International Merchant Bankers Berhad in 2001 after obtaining her professional qualifications from PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Later in her career, she joined other investment banking institutions in Malaysia such as AmInvestment Bank Berhad, Maybank Investment Bank Berhad and RHB Investment Bank Berhad.

Presently, Sarah sits as Non-Independent Non-Executive Director of Reneuco Berhad and Independent Director of Pharmaniaga Berhad. She is currently the Executive Director of 3p Capital Advisers Sdn. Bhd., a company licensed with the Securities Commission Malaysia to provide advisory services to the capital market players.

Tuan Haji Ismail Bin Mohamed

Tuan Haji Ismail Mohamed sits on the Board of Director for Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS). He obtains his Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

Prior to sitting on the EMGS Board, he was also appointed to be the Board of Director to KEJORA from 2013 to 2018, and several companies such as Permodalan Darul Takzim Sdn Bhd, Perbadanan Usahawan Johor Sdn Bhd, PIJ Holding and Ranhil SAJ Sdn Bhd. Tuan Haji Ismail Mohamed also co-founded Pertama.

He started his career by setting up a company and being the founder of JYBB Enterprise. His career came to prominence when he became the co-founder and the Chief Executive Officer of Pertama Polyerethane Technology (M) Sdn Bhd and subsequently became the Special Officer to the Minister of Education in 2013.

Ismail Mohamed is acknowledged for his expertise in Agriculture and Agro-based industry, landing him being appointed as the Chairman of the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Committee of the Johor State, the Chairman of Agro KEJORA and the Chairman of the Johor State Agriculture, Agro-based industry, Entrepreneurial Development and Cooperatives Committee.
