NEW INTERNATIONAL STUDENT APPLICATIONS HIT 50,000 FOR THE YEAR 2022

KUALA LUMPUR, 21st DECEMBER 2022 –Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) is pleased to announce that the new international student applications have now exceeded the target for 2022. 50,000 new international student applications to study in Malaysian public and private education institutions have been received as of December 2022. Among the top 10 country of origin for new applications received from international students, the countries with an increasing trend are China, Indonesia, Pakistan, Japan and Egypt.

EMGS Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mohd Radzlan bin Jalaludin stated, “We are glad to see the increasing pattern of applications. This result shows Malaysia still hold dear by international students as they continue to show their interest to study in Malaysia”. He added, “This is a tremendous accomplishment and yet another milestone for EMGS and Malaysia as a whole.”

Local and international students and parents can easily access information about studying in Malaysia through EMGS initiative, the ‘Discover Education Malaysia’ portal, which is an official website with a credible source. The portal provides comprehensive information on Malaysian higher education institutions, including background, programmes, fee structure, and career paths, as well as student testimonials and informative articles. This portal also intends to bridge the gap between higher education institutions and potential local or international students and parents who are seeking information in studying in Malaysia, as well as promote Malaysia as a global education hub.

EMGS will continue to support the government’s aspiration of attracting 250,000 international students by 2025, and promote Malaysia as an international education hub of choice.

Tuan Haji Ismail Bin Mohamed

Tuan Haji Ismail Mohamed sits on the Board of Director for Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS). He obtains his Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

Prior to sitting on the EMGS Board, he was also appointed to be the Board of Director to KEJORA from 2013 to 2018, and several companies such as Permodalan Darul Takzim Sdn Bhd, Perbadanan Usahawan Johor Sdn Bhd, PIJ Holding and Ranhil SAJ Sdn Bhd. Tuan Haji Ismail Mohamed also co-founded Pertama.

He started his career by setting up a company and being the founder of JYBB Enterprise. His career came to prominence when he became the co-founder and the Chief Executive Officer of Pertama Polyerethane Technology (M) Sdn Bhd and subsequently became the Special Officer to the Minister of Education in 2013.

Ismail Mohamed is acknowledged for his expertise in Agriculture and Agro-based industry, landing him being appointed as the Chairman of the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Committee of the Johor State, the Chairman of Agro KEJORA and the Chairman of the Johor State Agriculture, Agro-based industry, Entrepreneurial Development and Cooperatives Committee.
