VERIFICATION LETTER FROM EMGS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS TO OPEN A BANK ACCOUNT IN MALAYSIA

1.     PURPOSE:

1.1  Certain international students who intend to open a bank account in Malaysia are required to submit a verification letter from EMGS as a supporting document which shows that Malaysian Immigration Department has approved their student pass.

1.2  The purpose of this bulletin is to provide information to Education Institution on the latest system enhancement which will allow Education Institution to generate the verification letter via the EMGS STARS system.
 

2.      IMPLEMENTATION:

2.1  Beginning 15^th October 2021, based on the international student’s request, Education Institutions will be able to download the verification letter from STARS once the student pass has been issued by Malaysian Immigration Department. This verification letter will contain the details of the international student including the name of their current Education Institution.

2.2  This verification letter can be downloaded as a PDF from STARS (My Account > My Applications > (Open the application by clicking on the application number) > Print Verification Letter for Bank).

2.3  Attached below is the sample of the verification letter that is issued via EMGS STARS system.
