TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS FOR TRAVELLERS ARRIVING FROM BANGLADESH, PAKISTAN, NEPAL AND SRI LANKA

 

1.     PURPOSE:
1.1.   EMGS would like to provide further updates on the bulletins issued regarding the temporary travel ban imposed by the Government of Malaysia for travellers arriving from India and the United Kingdom.
1.2.   The Malaysian Government has now extended the ban to cover travellers arriving from certain other countries.

2.     IMPLEMENTATION:
2.1.   Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced on 5th May 2021 that the travel ban has been extended for travellers arriving from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
2.2.   The travel ban covers all categories of long-term pass holders including International Students, business travellers and social visitors.
2.3.   An exemption is given to holders of diplomatic and official passports as provided for under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations 1961. These categories of travellers will be allowed to enter Malaysia subject to the existing Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
