TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS FOR TRAVELLERS ARRIVING FROM BANGLADESH, INDIA, NEPAL, PAKISTAN, SRI LANKA AND UNITED KINGDOM

 


1.     PURPOSE:

1.1  EMGS would like to provide further updates on the bulletin issued previously on 6th May 2021 regarding the temporary travel ban imposed by the Government of Malaysia.

 

1.2  The Immigration Department of Malaysia has issued a circular on 20th September 2021 following the decision taken by the Special Committee on Pandemic Management chaired by the Prime Minister of Malaysia to lift the temporary restrictions for travellers arriving from the following countries: –

  • Bangladesh
  • India
  • Nepal
  • Pakistan
  • Sri Lanka
  • United Kingdom
 

2.      IMPLEMENTATION:

2.1  With immediate effect, the Immigration Department of Malaysia has ended the temporary restrictions imposed on travellers arriving from these countries.

 

2.2  However, the re-entry of citizens from these countries will be done carefully and on a case to case basis that are  intended for traveller categories such as permanent residents, long term pass holders (including students), business visitors and investors.

 

2.3  Travellers that are allowed to enter must comply with the requirements of complete vaccination, screening test procedures upon arrival and quarantine in Malaysia as required by the Ministry of Health (MOH) of Malaysia to curb the spread of new variants of COVID-19 in the country.
