INTEREST TO STUDY IN MALAYSIA IS RISING AMONG BANGLADESHI STUDENTS

KUALA LUMPUR, 30th March 2023 – Malaysia is becoming the destination of choice for pursuing studies among international students around the world, particularly from Bangladesh. With a vast capacity for students around the world, Malaysia currently hosts 20 public universities, more than 160 private higher education institutions, 10 foreign branch campuses and more than 39 language and skills centres. The latest data from Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) shows that more than 13,000 international student applications received were from Bangladesh, since the year 2019. Among the popular study programmes are Business and Administration, Computing, General Programmes, Personal Services and Engineering.

Malaysia has various attractions to offer to international students pursuing their studies. Malaysia’s higher education institutions also offer a quality education for all and widely-recognised study programmes globally. All international students are able to experience a dynamic lifestyle, in a harmonious multicultural society with various beautiful destinations to visit. As English is widely spoken in Malaysia, learning and living will be easy for students as they can practise the language. Being a Modern Muslim nation, Mosques and Halal cuisines can be found almost everywhere in the country. Malaysia is also blessed with a strategic location and Bangladeshi students can go back to hometown easily as the flight distance is only a few hours away.

Since 13 April 2012, EMGS is a Company Limited by Guarantee (“CLBG”) under the purview of the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia which plays the role of promoting Malaysian education and functions as a one-stop centre to manage the admission of international students to Malaysia. EMGS also developed ‘Student Application and Registration System (STARS)’ used to guarantee the authenticity and quality of prospective students through strict academic, health and safety screening before the visa application is approved by the Malaysian Immigration Department. Visa applications can be made online by the students themselves or through their respective institutions. The issuance of Electronic Visa Approval Letter (eVAL) for international student may take fourteen (14) working days.
