I joined the two-week program organized by EMGS, with mixed emotions. I was unsure of what lay ahead, but I was also very excited. In fact, I was one of the latecomers in the group. My husband was accepted first, and I joined later. Still, I would have come either way, because I had wanted to see Malaysia for a long time.



In the end, the experience was far beyond anything I had imagined. It was truly unforgettable. I left with a full heart, beautiful memories, and people who have become very dear to me. I formed connections that I hope will last for a long time. What made this journey even more meaningful was the chance to experience Malaysia not only as a visitor, but also as someone reflecting on her future there. From the beginning, I felt welcomed, and that feeling stayed with me throughout the program. The kindness of the people and the warm atmosphere made it easy to feel at home.



Kuala Lumpur impressed me immediately. Coming from Frankfurt, people often speak about its skyline, but Kuala Lumpur felt like that times a thousand. The city is vibrant, impressive, and full of life. During our time there, we visited beautiful places that deepened my admiration for Malaysia. One moment that stayed with me was seeing so many Muslim professors wearing hijab at MSU. I've never seen so many in my whole life as we saw in a single day. As someone who hopes to become a professor one day, this meant a lot to me. It showed me a version of academic life that is both intellectually inspiring and deeply connected to faith and identity. It made me hopeful that my career could one day bring me back to Kuala Lumpur, where I could be part of such a knowledgeable, religiously practicing, and multicultural society.



Terengganu felt very different, but equally special. It was calmer, softer, and deeply peaceful. My heart found rest there. I have never seen such a beautiful beach before, and snorkeling was an experience I will never forget. In those moments, I could only admire Allah’s creation and feel grateful to witness such beauty.

Overall, I am thankful to Allah and to everyone who made this experience possible. I will always cherish this journey, and I hope it will not be my last time in Malaysia.
