My Edutourism FAM Trip Experience in Malaysia - Itimâd S.T. Djobo

I entered this two-week program feeling a lot of things, mostly anxiousness and unsure of what is ahead of me but at the same time, I was excited to discover something new. And in the end, it turned out to be even more than I had hoped for. It was truly amazing. I left with a full heart, with memories I will cherish for the rest of my life, and with people who have become deeply dear to me. I formed bonds that I truly hope will last forever.

I was able to witness Malaysia’s beauty. And when I speak about its beauty, I am especially referring to its people, because they are what makes the country truly special. Every welcome we received was warm, intentional, and genuine. Our time in Kuala Lumpur allowed us to explore the vibrant and dynamic side of Malaysia. We did a lot of sightseeing and visited so many meaningful places; from stunning mosques like the Pink Mosque (Putra Mosque) and the National Mosque, to iconic landmarks like the Petronas Twin Towers and the Batu Caves, to exploring the Management and Science University. Every place added something unique to the experience and deepened my appreciation for the country.

In contrast, Terengganu revealed a calmer, more traditional side of Malaysia. We experienced bird watching, learned about cultural practices like telepuk, and explored nature through snorkelling and observing biodiversity through the many places that UniSZA offers to its students. It was just as unforgettable as Kuala Lumpur.

What stands out most to me is the depth of the country, not just in its culture and environment, but in the way people care. The way EMGS and the universities support and embrace international students is inspiring. Meeting the CEO of EMGS and the university representatives showed me a shared passion for education, growth, and purpose. They encouraged us to pursue paths that align with who we are, paths that bring fulfilment while also contributing to others.

This experience has taught me a lot about myself. It also opened my eyes to something I hadn’t considered before: the possibility of studying in a place that is both academically enriching and welcoming to my faith. The programme has showed me that it’s possible to find a place where I feel comfortable, respected, and supported. For that, I am deeply thankful.
