My Experience Studying in Malaysia by Mercy Adonijah Abayo
Studying in Malaysia has been a transformative experience. As a Tanzanian student pursuing a Bachelors in Banking and Finance with a specialization in Financial Technology at Asia Pacific University (APU), I noticed immense personal growth in terms of professional, academic, personal and cultural aspects.
When I first arrived in Malaysia, I was instantly attracted with the country`s cultural diversity and welcoming environment. Malaysia is a melting pot of Chinese, Indian, Malay and other international cultures, this diversity is also displayed at APU. Students come from various parts of the world, creating an atmosphere that fosters learning beyond academics. Engaging with diverse people has broadened my horizons, encouraging me to express my thoughts in multicultural settings.
APU lives up to its reputation as a technology driven university. Studying Banking and Finance with a FinTech specialization has propelled me to learn the latest industry trends, artificial intelligence in finance, financial regulation and digital payments. I enjoy the practical learning approach, several modules are inclusive of real word case studies, hands on activities and group projects that empower students for the modern financial sector demands. The lecturers encourage us to think critically and apply theoretical knowledge to real financial issues.
Life in Malaysia has been enriching; The cost of living is affordable compared to other study destinations which makes the international student life manageable. I enjoyed visiting beautiful places like Langkawi, Penang and Putrajaya. Public transportation is accessible, making it easy and convenient to travel around the city.
Fintech is a growing field in Tanzania and gaining this expertise abroad gives me confidence to contribute to the financial transformation happening in my country. Studying at APU has taught me independence, adaptability and resilience that I believe will improve my future career.
All in all, studying in Malaysia has been an exceptional experience that I will always cherish. APU has equipped me with lifelong friendships, a strong academic foundation and confidence to pursue a career in the fast-paced financial technology industry.
