MALAYSIA IS MORE THAN JUST A PLACE TO STUDY
My name is Alvina Dini Rahayu, I am 23 years old. After more than 4 years of studying in Malaysia from completing my bachelor’s degree to now pursuing Master of Business Administration in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), I can confidently say that Malaysia is one of the best places to study, grow, and build a future. What I expected to be just a study destination has truly become a place that shaped my identity, confidence, and career direction.
Coming from Pekanbaru, Indonesia, moving to a new country at a young age felt exciting but also intimidating. But from the very first day, Malaysia welcomed me with warmth and familiarity. The culture, the diversity, and the kindness of the people made it easy for me to adapt. Over time, Malaysia didn’t just feel safe, it felt like a second home where I could fully focus on becoming the best version of myself.
Academically, Malaysia has offered me an environment that is engaging, practical, and supportive. My lecturers encourage open discussions, value different perspectives, and challenge us to think critically. As an international student, I was always invited to share insights, compare case studies with Indonesia, and engage in meaningful conversations. These experiences helped me become more confident, articulate, and global-minded.
My journey here also expanded beyond academic life. One of my most memorable experiences was during my six-month internship at LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort in the Marketing & Sales department. I worked on content creation, campaign planning, and event support, including the MATTA Fair Kuala Lumpur. These hands-on experiences taught me how branding really works in the real world and shaped my passion for digital marketing.
I also had the opportunity to participate in the Festival of IDEA Putrajaya, where I captured the event as a content creator, interviewed international students, and even met the Minister of Higher Education Malaysia. Moments like these reminded me of how student-focused and dynamic Malaysia’s education ecosystem truly is.
Outside the classroom, Malaysia helped me grow as a social media influencer sharing my student journey with over 17K followers on Instagram and TikTok (@alvinadinii). Through content creation, I’ve been able to help and inspire many students who dream of studying abroad.
Even after all these years, Malaysia is still a place I treasure, a place that helped me grow academically, professionally, and personally. It is more than just a study destination; it is a place where dreams evolve, opportunities expand, and students like me find their unique paths.
