Abukar Abdullahi Abukar is a Somali public servant and emerging leader currently pursuing a Master of Management at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Graduate School of Management. He began his academic journey in Malaysia in May 2025 after serving at the Office of the Prime Minister of Somalia, undertaking official study leave to further strengthen his leadership and managerial expertise.
Coming from a family with a strong educational legacy at IIUM, Abukar follows in the footsteps of distinguished alumni, including his uncle, H.E. Mohamed Abukar Zubeyr, the Somali Ambassador to Russia, and Somalia’s Prime Minister, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre. Their shared academic background at IIUM has been a profound source of inspiration in shaping his ambitions.
With a deep interest in governance, management, and national development, Abukar actively contributes global perspectives—particularly insights from Somalia—into academic discussions. His experience in public service enriches his analytical approach, bridging theory with real-world leadership practice.
