Beyond Academia: Finding Home in Malaysia
How The Journey Started
When my family and I moved to Malaysia in 2014, I was just an 11-year-old, unaware of how profoundly this vibrant country would become a second home and shape my future. Now, as I have just completed my degree in Architecture at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), I look back with immense gratitude. Studying in Malaysia has been more than just an academic endeavour; it has been a transformative journey, profoundly influencing both my personal and professional growth. It has opened doors to opportunities I had never imagined and helped me discover a new sense of purpose and direction. Academic Experience As a Palestinian student in Malaysia, I was welcomed into a nurturing academic environment, where the pursuit of knowledge was a collective journey. The support of professors, who are not merely lecturers but also active professionals in their fields, combined with collaborative classmates, enhanced my learning experience significantly. Furthermore, the commitment of Malaysia’s educational system to high academic standards and robust accreditation gave me confidence in the quality of the education I was receiving, ensuring that I was well-prepared for future challenges.

Taking on leadership roles and participating in various initiatives pushed me beyond my comfort zone, allowing me to develop essential life skills. These experiences not only enriched my university life but also helped me build a diverse network of peers that led me to achieve milestones and reach destinations I had once only dreamed of. Here’s a glimpse into some programs I got the opportunity to be part of:

From the bustling streets of Kuala Lumpur and the architectural heritage of Ipoh to the culinary delights of Penang, the lush landscapes of the Cameron Highlands, and the pristine beaches of the Perhentian Islands, Malaysia offers a truly captivating tapestry of experiences.
