Message From Chief Executive Officer of Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) for New Year 2021

Assalamualaikum wbt and greetings to everyone.

The year of 2020 was full of hurdles and challenges for us. The pandemic had not only restricted our movements, but also our effort to reach our goals. Many people were affected globally. Unemployment, retrenchment, losing business and many other economic problems arises following the outbreak of COVID-19.

Now, we are in 2021. Let us move forward and open a new chapter in our life. With the new norm being the usual practice, let us make 2021 a better year.

As for Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), we will strive harder to promote Malaysia as the preferred global education hub. It is time to revive the Higher Education industry and make our higher education institutions stand tall as other top universities in the world.

I would like take this opportunity to express my utmost gratitude to Malaysian National Security Council, the Immigration Department of Malaysia, and the Ministry of Higher Education for allowing international students to return to Malaysia. EMGS will work together with all relevant authorities to ensure all inbound students abide the SOPs outlined. It is our target to achieve 250,000 students by 2025 and we will make sure we hit the golden number.

As for the institutions, let us take this opportunity to attract as many international students as we can to further their education in Malaysia. EMGS is committed in helping the institutions to promote the courses offered globally.

With the cooperation and synergy of all stakeholders, EMGS is optimistic that 2021 will be a much better year for all of us.

Perutusan Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) Sempena Tahun Baharu 2021

 

Assalamualaikum wbt dan salam sejahtera.

Banyak cabaran, dugaan dan ranjau yang telah kita tempuhi sepanjang tahun 2020. Penularan pandemik ini bukan sahaja telah menghadkan pergerakan kita, malah ianya juga telah mengehadkan usaha kita untuk mencapai sasaran yang diingini. Pelbagai pihak yang telah terkesan akibat pandemik ini. Kehilangan pekerjaan, kerugian dalam perniagaan serta banyak lagi masalah ekonomi yang telah berlaku susulan penularan wabak COVID-19 ini.

Kini, kita telah berada di tahun baharu 2021. Kita semestinya mengharapkan lembaran baharu yang lebih baik untuk tahun ini. Walaupun dengan norma baharu, ianya tidak akan melunturkan semangat kita untuk memulakan dan menjadikan tahun baharu 2021 sebuah tahun yang lebih baik.

Kami di Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) akan berusaha lebih kuat untuk memasarkan Malaysia sebagai sebuah hub pendidikan global. Sudah tiba masanya untuk kita memulihkan semula industri ini dan membantu semua Institusi Pengajian Tinggi di Malaysia untuk berdiri sama tinggi dengan universiti-universiti terkenal di seluruh dunia.

Di kesempatan ini, saya ingin menzahirkan jutaan terima kasih kepada Majlis Keselamatan Negara (MKN), Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia dan Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi di atas langkah membenarkan pelajar antarabangsa untuk kembali menyambung pengajian mereka di Malaysia. EMGS akan terus bekerjasama dengan pihak berkuasa dalam memastikan pematuhan semua SOP yang telah digariskan. Kami yakin, langkah ini akan menjadi batu loncatan untuk negara kita dalam mencapai sasaran 250,000 pelajar pada tahun 2025.

Kepada institusi pengajian tinggi, ayuh kita mengambil ruang dan kesempatan ini bagi menarik minat pelajar-pelajar antarabangsa untuk meneruskan pengajian mereka di Malaysia. EMGS komited untuk terus membantu institusi dalam memasarkan kursus-kursus yang ditawarkan kepada bakal pelajar-pelajar kita.

Dengan kerjasama dan sinergi daripada semua pemegang taruh, EMGS optimis tahun 2021 akan menjadi tahun yang jauh lebih baik untuk kita semua.

Sarah Azreen Abdul Samat

Sarah has over 22 years of experience in corporate finance transactions involving equity issuance, mergers and acquisitions, fundraising, corporate restructuring, and corporate valuation, amongst others. She began her career in investment banking with Malaysian International Merchant Bankers Berhad in 2001 after obtaining her professional qualifications from PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Later in her career, she joined other investment banking institutions in Malaysia such as AmInvestment Bank Berhad, Maybank Investment Bank Berhad and RHB Investment Bank Berhad.

Presently, Sarah sits as Non-Independent Non-Executive Director of Reneuco Berhad and Independent Director of Pharmaniaga Berhad. She is currently the Executive Director of 3p Capital Advisers Sdn. Bhd., a company licensed with the Securities Commission Malaysia to provide advisory services to the capital market players.

Tuan Haji Ismail Bin Mohamed

Tuan Haji Ismail Mohamed sits on the Board of Director for Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS). He obtains his Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

Prior to sitting on the EMGS Board, he was also appointed to be the Board of Director to KEJORA from 2013 to 2018, and several companies such as Permodalan Darul Takzim Sdn Bhd, Perbadanan Usahawan Johor Sdn Bhd, PIJ Holding and Ranhil SAJ Sdn Bhd. Tuan Haji Ismail Mohamed also co-founded Pertama.

He started his career by setting up a company and being the founder of JYBB Enterprise. His career came to prominence when he became the co-founder and the Chief Executive Officer of Pertama Polyerethane Technology (M) Sdn Bhd and subsequently became the Special Officer to the Minister of Education in 2013.

Ismail Mohamed is acknowledged for his expertise in Agriculture and Agro-based industry, landing him being appointed as the Chairman of the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Committee of the Johor State, the Chairman of Agro KEJORA and the Chairman of the Johor State Agriculture, Agro-based industry, Entrepreneurial Development and Cooperatives Committee.
