EDUCATION MALAYSIA GLOBAL SERVICES SUPPORT THE DECISION OF THE GOVERNMENT TO ALLOW INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS RETURNING TO MALAYSIA

On June 19, 2020, Senior Minister of Defence, YB Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob said international students from the Public and Private Universities are allowed to return to Malaysia to resume their studies at their institutions. All international students must comply with the required SOP and they must undergo the COVID-19 screening before or upon arrival at the country’s entry points. They also need to undergo a 14-days mandatory quarantine period at their home and download the MySejahtera app if they return from the red zone countries.

According to Chief Executive Officer of Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), Mohd Radzlan bin Jalaludin, EMGS welcomes the decision by the Government based on the SOP required, with the consideration of the efforts to curb the COVID-19 outbreak. EMGS has also drafted the SOP proposal to the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) for all returning international students.

EMGS welcomes the arrival of international students to Malaysia in line with the goal of making Malaysia a global education hub. The presence of international students will help to assist the higher educational institutions in Malaysia and to revitalize the nation’s economy.
